This book is an allegory. It uses non-human characters to tell a story about human nature. Sort of like Jonathan Livingston Seagull, but these characters are onions rather than seagulls. Through the little onion's adventures, we revisit issues we have had in the past. Often they are still with us. We devote so much effort to "looking good" and "fitting in" that sometimes we lose sight of who we really are. There's a way to cut through all that and live the life we really want. Perhaps the answer has been within you all along.

Reading this book, I reflected back over so many of my own childhood and adolescent experiences, from noting differential treatment of boys versus girls to trying not to act smart in order to fit in with the other kids. I was a cheeronion, but that was one of many attempts to fit in with the in crowd. So many of us, particularly women, remain trapped in fear-based thinking, just like the onion in the diamond suit. The book shows the benefits of a guide or counselor to help us accept ourselves and blossom into the beautiful gems we really are. This book would be an excellent resource for school counselors across the elementary, middle and senior grades, as it addresses so many of the challenges faced throughout life. Too many lives on our planet are short-changed because of a lack of self confidence or self esteem. Too much "greatness'' has been lost because of the "I'm not good enough" syndrome. Mickey's book makes clear to children and adults that there is a diamond in each and every person including the reader him or her self. The book causes a person of any age to review their life and see the possibility for wholeness and greatness. I will be giving many copies of this book to teachers, clients and friends. I will be using it in women's seminars and quoting from it in speeches. Thank you Mickey for having me see more of what I could become myself. This is the best and easiest to read book ever! L. This small and very attractive book intrigued me with the title. I am the type reader that likes a book that grabs my attention on the first page; this one does that, in addition to keeping your attention until the end. One can read through it in a very short time. I immediately thought of a good friend that I felt could be helped by this book and also a neighbor's teenaged Granddaughter that I felt this book definitely described her situation. I believe my neighbor read it almost as soon as I gave it to her, and she was so impressed that she took it to her Christian Counselor. She told me how helpful the book was to her personally and has ordered 6 more to give, as needed. I don't have a report about the teenager, but I did give it to her. I know if and when she reads it, she will relate to it and I would love to see her shed her Onion Suit.

This book offers an important message wrapped in a light-hearted package for easy digestion. Mickey does a great job inviting the reader on a journey within.
There were many great ideas in this book for the way you look at life and how to improve your outlook. I would recomend this book for others and have bought additional copies to give to friends and family.
An extraordinary message in a tiny book. A quick and easy read that leaves lots to think and feel about. A universal tale that all can relate to. I will read this book again.
Mickey Michaels book, The Diamond in the Onion Suit, packs a lot of important messages in such a tiny package. That's why I liked it so much. Easy to sit down and read/digest in one sitting. I had a few "light bulb" moments while reading this little book. Will buy it for a few of my relatives and friends who are diamonds in onion suits. I lost a few layers of "onion leaves" reading it.
Just wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed this book. It was so well done and so apropos of the misconceptions we all labor under. I was also one of those that was too smart but trying to blend in any way possible. Amazing how 'women' could never be thought of as Businessonions. Goes to show you.... This book was great!
